June 25, 2010 - As you may have noticed LUSOBEAT has either not been loading or loading improperly for the last 5 days or so. The reason for this is that some hacker decided it would be fun drop a Trojan virus on our FTP server. We spent the last 3 days recovering from this "MALICIOUS ATTACK" I use these strong words as this virus was a hidden file and strategically placed on our Domain and FTP Server. (I'm not sure how this person was able to do this or even why as it definitely would take a bit of effort to sneak through our current security protocols etc...) Well anyways we are clean and back in business. But it goes to show you that if someone wants in, they'll find a way. We have implemented a new $ecurity protocol to prevent this in the future. We apologize for any inconveniences and like to thank all the readers that sent us emails letting us know that something was wrong with the page. I THANK YOU ALL!!!

This year we added a third day of events as Friday we'll have Fados and Waterfires with performances by: Ana Vinagre, Alice Pires (from Portugal) and d'Alma. Saturday we have the sounds of Novera and Irmãos Jusinto and Sunday Mia Silva and Starlight (of Canada) take the stage right after our yearly parade. APRIL 22, 2010 - The Carnation Revolution or the 25 de Abril, was a democratic military coup, "Movimento das Forças Armadas" (MFA), started on April 25, 1974 in Lisbon, Portugal. They effectively changed the Portuguese regime from a dictatorship to a democracy. The military forces quickly lined the streets of Lisbon and civilians ran out to mingle with the soldiers, despite orders to stay inside. At the time, carnations were flooding the famous central flower market of Lisbon, and many citizens put them into the gun barrels of the democratic soldiers, inspiring the name “Carnation Revolution” to describe this event in Portuguese history. In the aftermath of the revolution a new constitution was drafted, censorship was formally prohibited, free speech declared, political prisoners were released and the Portuguese overseas territories in Sub-Saharan Africa were immediately given their independence. March 16, 2010 - Edmund Dinis Esq. has passed away at the age of 85. Mr. Dinis, who opened his law practice in New Bedford in 1952, is a former state representative and state senator. His first involvements in civic life included promoting citizenship and voter registration among Portuguese immigrants. Over the past 50 years he has played a leadership role in the establishment of Dighton Rock State Park and in the promotion of Portuguese-American historical figures. Most recent he has donated $150,000 to UMass Dartmouth to establish the Edmund Dinis Portuguese-American Political, Legal and Public Service Collection at the Ferreira Mendes Portuguese-American Archives. "The new album by American eurodance masters YOUNG FIRE brings us yet another jewel in their crown of albums and hit singles. Once again we are treated to some of the most beautiful and heavenly melodic dance music in the world today. The album contains 11 new tracks, plus the #1 UK remix of "The Power Of Love (BTS Gates Of Heaven Remix)".
The group's most enduring quality is it's ability to produce dance music that is as romantic as it is danceable, mixing the incredible male vocal harmonies found in the most coveted 80s club tracks from Europe, and many of the elements of the 90s eurodance revolution in one special sound. The album starts off with the catchy "Losing My Way" with big synth riffs and a strong melody. Next is the sensational "I'll Be Back On My Feet Again". This is a stand out track, with its cleverly chorded arrangement and pulsing highly melodic chorus that is breathtaking. I think this is one of their finest penned songs that is very instantly memorable and will stick in your head. "Ojos Del Amour (Eyes Of Love)" is slightly more mid-tempo in it's arrangement but still has a special feel to it with it's wonderful Spanish inspired percussion and flamenco guitar vibe. Think CHER's famous "Dove L'Amore” but with male vocals, updated for the eurodance pundits - with their classic male vocal. "Lady Blue" has a distinct German schlager-ballad sound that is perfect for contemporary radio. You hear the true vocal range of their lead vocalist on this song, from deep baritone to a glorious almost falsetto through the song. The piano arrangement on the album is also extremely beautiful I must note. "Angelo Mio (My Angel)" will find strong favor with the eurodisco crowd. Its sound is comparable to some of the best artists in the genre such as BAD BOYS BLUE, SYSTEMS IN BLUE and of course FANCY. The orchestral feel of this track is outstanding. "Thinking By" is a lovely down tempo sleaze-NRG track, glorious in it's beauty and soaring heartfelt lyrics and pop excellence. Next up is the powerful "A Shattered Heart" with its sparkling MODERN TALKING-esque production, with a wonderful lyric. I definitely think DIETER BOHLEN would approve, and I hear that's not easy to get from him. "Dittes-Moi Porquoi (Tell Me Why)" takes a darker eurodance edge to the riveting big room synthesizer production. Although heavily noting a 90s production ethic to the song, the melodies remain very strong and the vocals perfect. A truly magical piece of dance music. It would pack a prime time club floor instantly. I should note this track is club length at 5:39 in length, and already club ready in its original form. The new single "Lonely" heralds a traditional Italodance/HiNRG feel, strongly influenced by the best songs from the 80s lyrically and melodically - while the production is solidly modern. Watch for this to be a major hit in the coming months in clubs around the world. "Falas Comigo (Talk To Me)" returns the group to yet another sparkling ballad, highlighted with the clever answering machine samples. Highly romantic fare that is again - very pop radio friendly. The last album track is the original version of the hit single "The Power Of Love", which has been a hit for months now. Finishing up the month is the "BTS Gates Of Heaven Remix" version (7:50), by UK producers DANCE LEGENDS who are specialists in remixing eurodisco music. This amazing remix went #1 on our club chart, and if you haven't heard it as yet, it is worth the price of the album to have this remix alone.
